Big Brother told me that he stood up for his sister.
That boy was laughing at her, and I said, "Don't laugh at her. That's my sister."
Now, the boy in question was about four years old, and Sister is two years old, so he likely was not laughing at her in any malicious way, but the point was that Big Brother(6) thought that it was mean, and he was brave enough to stand up for her.
I am really proud of him, because he will not stand up for himself. I have seen much younger children cow Big Brother many times. I've even seen Little Brother (4) stand up for Big Brother (6) against another child. But Big Brother will never, ever stand up for himself. It is a really hard thing for him to do. So it was nice to see his love for his sister overpowering his fear of other children. Maybe if he gets enough practice doing it for others, he will be able to do it for himself someday. I know I found it easier to stand up for others than for myself, when I was young. But I think that practice with confrontation like this will really help him develop skills with handling other confrontational situations.
