Went on vacation last weekend to Chicago where I attended the Wizard World convention with some friends that I've collected online over the years. Had an absolute blast. This is very lengthy with all pictures included so I'll paste everything behind this handy little cut...
The plane ride there wasn't terribly bad. I sat next to some lady from Owasso who ran the Eggbert's restaraunt there. She spent half of the flight trying to get me to go visit her youngest son at his job because apparently I'm a 'nice girl'. Heh, I come off as too nice sometimes.
O'Hare wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. There were a shit ton of people and getting my bags sucked, but finally everything worked out. We went to Walmart, stopped off at the convention center for a bit, and then it was Friday before I knew it.
We decided to do Battle Royale costumes because they were cheap, easy, and that movie is a cult classic. If you haven't seen it, go do so right now. But people knew who we were, so they kept taking pictures of our costumes and whatnot. Except Priscilla Barnes (Terri from Three's Company). She had no idea. And I'm pretty sure she was drunk too.
Did some shopping that was pretty fun. There were a lot of really cool booths there that had some things I'd never seen before. Lots of anime stuff (which made me all kinds of happy). Looked around for Fullmetal Alchemist and Bleach stuffs. Bought some good tshirts. Even bought a Battle Royale tshirt.
We sat in line for Thomas Jane's autograph for like three hours. I had no idea of who he was. Thee was some creepy guy sitting behind us that was an absolute dork, and was a huge asshole to boot. We called him fanboy. Kinda wish I woulda taken a picture. Never crossed my mind. Anyway: here are Kelly, Sara, and Ryoko sitting in line.
Me and Kelly.
After getting Thomas Jane's signatures done we walked around for a while more. Cassaday, the comic artist who does Astonishing X-men was there, but his line was huge. I was sad.
We took pictures with Scotty Schwartz.
And harassed Daniel Logan (every day, actually). Took a group picture with Ray Park (who was Darth Maul in Star Wars Ep. 1).
Visited some pirates that day too. They werre funny as shit. And they'd show you their goods because they could. One of them was wearing a kilt traditional style. They were funny as shit. Here's me and the normal one.
They showed the english Fullmetal Alchemist movie in room with a bunch of people. We had great seats. Had to interrupt a guy's lecture to get them, but we had them. And it rocked.
We picked up one of Sara and Kelly's friends named Tanya that night. Don't remember much else.
Saturday was the big day. There were a ton of people there. We dressed up as Fullmetal Alchemist characters that day. People were taking pictures like crazy. I'm bound to be in at least 100 pics that are somewhere on this internet.
We walked around and took a lot of photos of other nerds dressed in costume. Bought a lot of things. Saw a lot of things. Harassed a lot of people. Waited for more autographs in lines.
Here's a picture of me in Sara's Fullmetal cloak.
These guys werre dressed as people from Kingdom Hearts.
This guy was working on an awesome chalk drawing out in front of the convention center. I have full pics of it finished if anyone is interested.
Later that night we all got drunk and those other bitches tried to molest me haha. It was fun, though. I was sober before the rest of them, yet theey just kept on drinkin. There isn't a picture from that night that includes Kelly where she isn't holding a green bottle of champange (I think) in her hand.
Sunday was good. Got all my shopping done. We went and said bye to Daniel Logan (little Boba Fett from Star Wars Ep. 2). And when I say 'said goodbye' I mean we took video of us convincing him to let Kelly shove money down his pants. Yes, finally he conceded, and that two dollars was given to charity.
The rrest of the time flew by pretty fast. Monday morning we got to the airport around 10.45 I think. My flight left at noon. Thankfully this was all before the terrorists ddecided to try and blow shit up. It took me about ten minutes to get through security. I had to sit next to some seven year olds in the waiting area that were literally jumping up and down on the bench. I actually looked over and told them to settle the fuck down.
Now I love this part.
When I got on the plane I had some bitch sit down next to me that had the wrong seat. When she got up, the real owner of that seat sat down. It was a Catholic priest. He was wearing the black outfit with the white collar. We had some good talks. I asked him what kind of movies he wouldn't watch, and whether or not he listened to heavy metal. He was actually a long-time drug addict who had found God. He was one cool guy.
Got off the plane got in my car (which was back from the shop yay!!) and went home. Can't wait for the next trip, whenever that is.
Btw, I have a TON of more pictures if anyone wants to see. Including some of the guy dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow. He was a Johnny Depp double. It was awesome.
