It's not necessarily because you're a woman. For the first 3 years I worked here, they just preemptively shot down every idea or suggestion I had. But if I had someone else in the office suggest it, it was brilliant! Then come evaluation time they'd give me a lower score on coming up with ideas and suggestions.

In fact, 3 years ago when we were still in the testing phase of our new system, I repeatedly pointed out that the field for accrual number had decimal points and the field for accrual years, off which accrual number is calculated, did not. I kept saying it needed to be switched but everyone said it wasn't important. TODAY (when we can no longer fix it), the higher-ups are freaking out 'cause their reports all say we're supposed to accrue 3.67 people. "Why," they ask, "does the system allow you to accrue percentages of a person?" Because you didn't listen to me, bitches! Better go find some amputees.

Yeah, well, it's either age, gender, or both, none of which should be acceptable. Bastards. Why won't older people listen? I try really hard to at least listen to others, and I do occasionally change my view because of what I hear.
