Edit: If you want to see this video about a seven year old boy's reaction to dental anaesthetic that was filmed by his father, go here to the original YT page, and draw your own conclusion as to its tastefulness.
1. This made me feel very high watching it. Like, it made my eyes water.
2. It reminds you that sober people who lovingly take care of high people and keep it positive... are godsends to those people who are trying not to go to outerspace.
3. It makes me want to thank my ex for when he took care of me the first 12 hours after coming out of anaesthesia. I remember climbing VERY hard to consciousness and writing him a note to get my pain Rxs and antibiotics from the pharmacy. I had had oral surgery and couldn't talk. Somehow, he picked up the right one from the right pharmacy even though my note with the directions was chicken scratch. He probably put up with a lot of weird gesticulating as I asked for things I needed in a total stoned and mute state of retardation.
While I did chuckle at this, I have to say that on reflection I feel sorry for a kid who has gained a certain notoriety he may not want from being exploited by his own father.
I think this is the sort of thing that would really be better kept between friends and family, and shown at his 21st.
It's part of a problem I see with the internet these days, one exemplified by Facebook but creeping in everywhere else: a thoughtless, casual disregard of privacy compounded by a desire to make one's presence felt at almost any cost.
Notoriety for what? Acting high when you're high? Anyone who's ever smoked too much or gotten drunk or ever been put under anaesthesia recognizes exactly how he's feeling. I say its far more empathetic and sympathetic experience than, say.... having Bob Saget make funny voices while a studio audience laughs at home videos of children running into fenceposts, hitting their dad in the balls, how you goofed off during the christas pageant or getting knocked over by dogs...
Oh I hear ya. I just think the kid's too young to give consent, that his dad is an irresponsible git, and that the whole thing has created an out of control phenomenon. Over 5 million views and countless takes on the thing in just nine days! Nobody let me be near you after I've "been to the dentist" and you've got a camera ;)
