[date time! finally...]

Aug 26, 2007 22:50

Lucas has not been putting this whole date thing off at all. This should be the first fact to be noted even if it can't really be expressed in any manner aside from verbally. He hasn't been putting it off but he has been being extremely nervous about it while waiting for a time to open up. Tonight would be the first night that has actually been ( Read more... )

*and she's likely on a couch somewhere flipping through an old, rather battered book that's more something to do than something that holds actual interest -- and once she sees him, she'll just have to smile, faintly but entirely genuinely (and that book will now be gone as she sits up properly)* Lucas. Dare I inquire as to the occasion for the finery?

*smiles, perhaps the slightest bit less faintly, motioning to the suit* I have an appearance to make and I was wondering if you would be at all interested in joining me for an evening of art mockery.

*she'll immediately deny anyone who truthfully claims her smile just got a little brighter* Spending time with you and mocking the often pretentious ranks of high society. I don't believe the evening could offer much better. *and -- after a moment, then, she'll be in a dress (being a demigoddess is useful for date preparation) -- black, of course, with thin straps and assymmetrically cut from her knees to halfway down her calves, with a fairly simple cut overall -- and she'll quickly also make sure that her makeup is all right and her hair is properly up before smiling at him again* Do I pass inspection?

*well, if he's being given an invitation to appreciate... >__>* I can safely say that you would have looked far better than the vast majority of those in attendance even before. *gives a slight bow, offering his arm* It will be as much of an honour as ever to be accompanied by you this evening. I hope you don't mind traveling by car. There's a certain image my father demands his family maintains. *which is to say that there will be the most impressive vehicle available in his world waiting outside, appropriately coloured in black and complete with chauffeur, who will open the lady's door as they approach*

*that'll get a faint grin, then -- it doesn't really need to be vaguely flirtatious around him, but it will be anyway* Glad to hear it. *and takes his arm, yes* I don't mind at all. I'm not really used to it, but most people consider it normal, I'm told. *and yes, she'll look a little impressed by it -- the chauffeur will also get a smile as she gets in, then*

*grinning a little as well, he'll wait for her to be seated before going around and being let in on the other side* It's a boring way to move around but it's one more way to flaunt your money and Mr. Meresin is nothing if not a show-off. *the "Mr. Meresin" is voiced in a slightly bitter tone that acts as well as a verbal eyeroll*

I believe I can tell. *she's looking around at the inside of the car somewhat curiously now* And I'll have to confess to not really caring if it works in our favour for times like this. Next time, though, do you think it would annoy him too badly if we ignored the car and went on foot? It'd certainly be a way to make an entrance.

*shh, pretend there isn't a bit of glee at the "next time"* He'd probably just chalk it up to my brother being a bad influence or something. *pauses a moment, looking vaguely amused* Then again, he only said I had to pick my guest up in the car. He didn't actually say anything about arriving in it. I could always tell the driver to let us out.

*...can't help grinning, almost hopefully* Could we? It's nice outside and it seems like a shame to waste that. *not that it also seems like a shame to minimize the time spent in Lucas's company, but shhh >___>*

*grins right back* Absolutely. *and he'll lean forward to knock on the window between the front and back, which rolls down so that he can speak with the driver and ask to be dropped off at the next corner -- he'll also tip the driver rather generously when they stop, just in case his father gets too annoyed to pay >__>*

*and she'll be looking rather pleased by this as she gets out of the car, though honestly, part of that is just dateglee* How far away is it? *not that it really matters, lol demigoddess, but*

*looks around a bit to see exactly where they ended up* Let's see. We're on Olympic and Rodeo, the gallery's on Wilshire. So basically we're walking three blocks of the Beverly Hills shopping district.

*if you didn't predict that bit of brightening at the mention of shopping, you clearly don't know Meg (or her closet) well enough* I suppose I shouldn't ask if we might, by any chance, have time before we arrive to take a proper tour of the shopping district, should I.

*she may very well be capable of getting anything she wants out of him just by looking happy about something* Well, I don't know about a proper tour but I doubt we'll be missed too much if you'd like to make a few stops on the way. *and this is not at all gleefully hopeful, what?* I could always bring you back to really show you around some other time.

*...grins, then, and she'll look a little happier still* I'll save it for when you bring me back, then. Hopefully I can hold out for that long. *contemplatively* Though it also hopefully won't be that long. *is in a really good mood now, yes*

Well, then. We'll set a date. *he'll mostly be able to hide his continually rising glee but it sort of shows through the fact that he's still smiling as he leads her along* Have you ever spent much time in L.A.? We could make a day of it.
