Rough Artist's Statement

I'm gonna run this by my teacher early tomorrow... meanwhile - comments ^_^!

In my exploration of the world of art, I have gone through many choices of subject before finally focusing on one quite recently. This is the art of nature.

That is not to say I do strict wildlife art, although my paintings certainly fall along those lines. However, as a pagan I believe that the divinty, and thus, spirituality, is an inherent part of nature, and that we, in our plastic world, have lost touch with it, being too wrapped up in our own toys to notice the broader picture around us.

The animals that remain, both within nature, and those that have managed to survive despite human encroachment remain truly in touch with the spiritual, and maintain a small essence of it within themselves, which is what I am attepting to paint; when I paint a fox, to use my favourite example, I am not simply illustrating or otherwise retelling about the individual creature whose life I have capture on canvas. I am also attempting to communicate the essence of Fox; what it means to be a fox; that spark of the spiritual that all foxes share.
