As I was transferring pictures from my camera to my laptop, I found this batch of photos that I'd forgotten about - breakfast at the new
UCC Cafe in Corinthian Hills during my last vacation in Manila. I was really happy when Corinthian HIlls started to have an outside commercial area. It makes things a lot more convenient for me in terms of having somewhere quick to go without having to deal with traffic if I ever need groceries (Rustan's Fresh), coffee (Starbucks and UCC), pasta (Caffe Casanova), and a salon (Indigo).
D and I decided to have quick breakfast at UCC just so we could catch up on things, and by that I mean exchange gossip, haha. The exterior of UCC is pretty typical. It doesn't really draw your attention, but then again, they're established enough that they don't need to. Besides, I'm guessing their sign lights up at night. You can see D's legs in the reflection when she took the picture if you look closely.

The insidewas bright and welcoming, with touches of a pale green and maroon to contrast with the mostly white and dark wood interior. This picture was taken after we had finished our meal. It was at that odd time between breakfast and lunch when there really are no customers. I can't believe servers smiled for the picture! I didn't even notice till I looked closely. That was was nice and welcoming of them.

Since it's been awhile since this breakfast, I don't remember the exact names of the items but I recall choosing mine from the Light Breakfast Options. I chose the Toast with Pork Floss and Sunny Side Up Egg with White Sauce. I don't understand why they call it light, actually, since it was quite a heavy breakfast. Maybe they're referring to the price? This was a really good breakfast, though. One I'm quite surprised to find in Manila.

UCC is first and foremost a coffee shop franchise from Japan, so of course I had to order their coffee. I'd heard that their Sumiyaki coffee was really good, so I asked the server if I could order it as the free coffee that came with my breakfast,. She informed that only their breakfast blend was part of the meal, so I just ordered it separately. UCC serves its coffee using the siphon filter method and they pour your cup right in front of you. Of course I could not resist taking a picture!

You can also ask for your coffee to be served with their sugar crystals that they only bring if you ask for it. Otherwise they bring you regular cream and sugar. The coffee was absolutely delicious! It was smooth and mild and really did not need sugar at all to be palatable. There was a sweet roastiness to the flavour that just gave my taste buds so much simple pleasure. I only added the crystals because they were so amusing. And yes, I know you can buy them here in Vancouver at Daiso.

D ordered from their regular breakfast options and chose the Mushroom Omelette. She said it was good, but the bacon was a little bit undercooked. She wasn't able to have coffee because she was pregnant at the time. Congratulations, D, on baby girl Gillian Rachel!

Being located in such a neighborhood setting, UCC Cafe in Corinthian HIlls is very conducive to having leisurely conversations over coffee. I also saw a few people conducting business meetings. D and I had a lovely time and would not hesitate to go back again to try some of their other non-breakfast offerings.
