I recently bought this amazing steampunk bellydancing bodice from Pendragon:
Several of my friends, upon seeing me wearing it all chimed in "Browncoat!!"
Thus was born the idea of putting together a femme version of Mal's costume for Dragon*Con. I have a button-down shirt and I even have the QMX prop gun, so all I really need to finish this is the skirt.
Herein lies my dilemma.
The dancer in me wants full, twirly and swirly (because I WILL be dancing there), like this beige number:
But I'm also pondering a more tailored twill skirt like this because I can easily add the brown stripe down each side:
So, help me decide. I know I will get more use from the full skirt, but it would be a bitch and a half to add the striping (and it likely won't really be seen with all the foofiness). Or go with the more tailored skirt, even though I can't really find much else to use it for and it is really not suited for dancing?
