Thank you so much! I'm happy you liked the update, especially the flash forward. I really wanted to get across that a victim doesn't have to stay a victim forever. I won't be getting too into their kids' lives in the rest of the story (unless I write some standalones), but I wanted to make sure the readers could see at least the groundwork for people who are going to see Blaine as something more than "the kid on the news" about to become a major part of his life. After all, he's not going to be a brave former rape victim to these kids. He's going to be their dad.

Just like Blaine's story is based on a real life one, the girl they adopt is based on a real life story, too. I'm never going to discuss it in great detail, though. It was without a doubt the most intensely disturbing and triggering account I've ever read (even more than the entire Steve Stayner story, which is the main inspiration for Blaine). I'm honestly not even prepared to give out the names so people can look it up, because I don't think I can handle being responsible for showing the story to so many people. I've ended up including her in here so at least in my own mind I can pretend there's a little justice in the world and had she been living in a different time around different people, she could have had such a better life in the end :/
