I loved this chapter so much! Everything was just wonderfully written.
You have managed to get me hooked on not just one, but two stories here. The story of Blaine going through all of this stuff as a kid, and the story of him and Kurt going through entirely new struggles as adults. I am equally captivated by both, and it just makes every chapter update so much better that we get both stories to look forward to reading.
Blaine's struggles were, as always, heartbreaking, and you literally had me in tears when he sang for the Warblers. (And not just a few tears. There were rivers streaming down my face.)
Your characterizations of all the glee characters are... well, perfect. Everything from Rachel's overbearing drive to succeed (whether it be with getting the Warblers ready for rehearsal or getting through to Blaine), to the absolutely hilarious dialogue from Brett. The Warblers were fabulous as well, and it really took no imagination on my part to go from what little snippets we're given in cannon to how they acted here thanks to how perfectly the two fit together.
Also, that was the first time I have read awkward sex without feeling ridiculously awkward myself. It was all just so sweet and so perfect for them. And then by the end, you had me in tears again because of how much this all meant to Blaine. The fact that it wasn't about the actual sex (although that's fun), but about how happy Kurt makes him in each and every way. It was beautiful.
I'm so happy you're getting invested in the future story as well. There's not going to be much more of them in this story, unfortunately (believe it or not, this monster is finally winding down), but I do have a lot of background set up for them, spanning an embarrassingly long time, that I created while I was working out the story. If I find there's a lot of interest in the future story once this is finished, I may write some standalones so people see a little more about how Kurt's and Blaine's family ends up.
I'm happy you liked the characterization as well. I find with Rachel, Brett, and the Warblers are characters that I have an almost unhealthy amount of fun writing for them. With Rachel, there's so much to work with, and with Brett and the Warblers there's so little. Both ways the possibilities seem endless when I include them in a scene haha.
I'm relieved to hear about the sex scene. I had no idea how that would turn out when I started it, and ended up panicking while I was writing, because I thought it should be sombre and romantic and deep, but all they were doing was joking around and messing up and refusing to take anything seriously, no matter how much I edited. So I freaked out on Tumblr until I was told to calm the hell down, because after all the angst in the story so far, it sounded like they were winning the first-time lotto (paraphrased).
I would love if you kept writing about how Kurt and Blaine's family ends up. Although it is a difficult story to read and it must be even more difficult for you to write.
I thought the sex scene was incredible, one of the best I've ever read. It seemed so real!
