* anyway ... the macbook pros just have more shit on them.
* the iLife software and stuff includes more detail. they have faster processors & the option of more installed memory space as well as a lot more (20-60Gigs) hard-drive space (which if you have a lot of music is a good thing - your computer won't slow down as you put more shit on it).
* they have a better graphics card as well as better/more video memory.
* i don't know if this is a big deal to you but the macbook pros have a backlit keyboard which is SUCH a badass feature especailly working at night say if your roommate is asleep & you don't want to turn all the lights on. it might be stsupid but this is probably one of my favorite features. the keyboard has adjustable brightness.
* they have less of a battery life compared to the macbooks but i never found this to be a problem. you can almost always find an outlet.
that's about all i can think of right now but yeah. i have done a TON of research on MACs & they just surpass everything. there is no way in hell that i am ever buying any other brnad of computer ever. not for me, my kids, anything, they are wonderful & well worth the money you pay for them.
macbooks are just as reliable & good as a macbook pro it's just whether or not you want all these extra features - not to mention spend the money. i chose to spend the money but i'm also a graphic design/photography & advertising & studio art major (yes, all of them) so MACs are IDEAL for my line of study. it's all up to you, but i hope this helped you out a little bit.
as far as other things i think you should bring ... a bottle opener?! haha. also make SURE you have a good hat/gloves for winter they will save your ass. anything else you want to know/have questions about?!!!
