50 Book Challenge Book #11: The Bourne Supremacy

Not what I had expected at all. Every bit as riveting as the first, but it didn't go where I'd have expected a sequel to go.


Well, one of the questions I had at the end of The Bourne Identity the movie, was answered. If they knew they were going to film both books, why would they leave out Carlos the Jackal, since it was abundantly clear that any sequel would have to have Jason Bourne/David Webb chasing him down? Well, because while that might be obvious, it's not what Ludlum went with. He went in a completely different direction: pre-1997 Hong Kong. Actually, it's still pre-fall of the USSR, but there's less Soviet cold war stuff to it. Now I want to see the movie and see how that went and what sort of things they did to adapt it to the present time, since a major plot-driver was whether the insaniac Bourne had to take out would end up screwing up the Hong Kong Accords and precipitate a takover by Peking.
