The wake tonight

I had been hoping, oddly enough, for an open casket wake. I felt like seeing her body without her in it would ... give some closure, I guess. She had chosen to be cremated, so that was not an option, obviously.

I found out from another coworker that one of the books on death and dying that I had given her (called Final Gifts) really ended up ( Read more... )

It takes a special kind of person to not insist that one is going to live a long, long time, even when it's obvious that one is not going to live that long, long time. It takes an honest person who, though uncomfortable with death, does not fight it when it is staring one in the face. Generally, that behavior is less about the dying and more about those that'll be left behind. (If only more realized that it's not really being left behind... though in a way it is, it's not so damned final as everyone wants to make it. Er. /tangent)

She saw that. I know she was grateful for that, from you.

And, I really, *really* love you lotslotslots.
