This has been an interesting week

Something's up at work. Seems like someone's looking very closely to make sure i's are dotted and t's are crossed. Fortunately, mine are. Still a bit unnerving.

The verdict on making up the snow day is we're coming in early for a bunch of days to make it up, which is great except for the moms needing to get kids on the bus who have a hard time being on time as it is. Might've made more sense to go straight through one of the Mondays that we have a 2 1/2 hour break for those taking micro, as there are far fewer who'd be left out that way.

No exam this Monday though, which is a relief. Wasn't sure how they'd pull that off with us having missed 4 hours of lecture on the topics it was supposed to cover.

Seems to be the week for philosophical ponderings, on LJ and in meatspace. Trying to synthesize a post on some of it.

Started watching BSG S2 last night. Pyramid! I'd forgotten pyramid. (ETA: which was apparently called Triad in the original series. But it looks the same.) Actually, I still only vaguely remember it. I need to rewatch the original series at some point. While it's nice to see some of these "old" things come up from time to time, I still find myself wishing they'd just done something completely new instead of building off of and so completely changing the old BSG. Going by the deleted scenes from S1, for example, apparently Boxey did have a larger role that got cut. Which makes sense. The cutting. Because without Serena, and more importantly without Apollo/Serena, why would Boxey be kicking around Galactica instead of on one of the civilian ships? Which reminded me that I miss Sheba and Cassiopeia as well as Serena. Did they really have to gender-switch Boomer and Starbuck and lose some of the other female characters? Which also leads to some thoughts about both Tigh and Boomer no longer being Black, though Boomer is still a POC (and a Cylon). And then thoughts about how the recurring Cylons thus far are mostly women who are going around seducing the menfolk into treason, which is bothersome. Yeah, there was that one guy who got fried on the ammo-dump planet and then later got spaced. But No 6 and Boomer loom a bit larger, and it's hard not to wonder about Ellen. I'm also very curious to see how the polytheism of the humans versus the monotheism of the Cylons plays out.

Time to get ready for work. The nice thing about working third shift tonight is that I lose an hour of awake time instead of an hour of sleep. And work 7 hrs while getting paid for 8. I remember making it a point to grab this shift when I was working per diem at the hospital. Weekend differential plus shift differential plus a free hour!

Eczema is back to driving me nuts. The Benadryl and lanolin approach was working for awhile, but my body has probably habituated to it. Yay. Going to have to try and be seen over spring break. The topical steroid stopped cutting it a while back, and everything else is taking its turn working for awhile and then failing.

Work. Right. *shakes self*
