Gratitude Project 2006

This week has been weird. On the one hand, no more classes, so yay! On the other hand, I am now very broke, and have thus picked up lots and lots of hours at the hospital (my per diem job where I have not worked at all since May). Between that fact and the lovely thunderstorms of the past couple of days, not so much with the online time.

So I'm off to a late start with the Gratitude Project, started in 2004 by estaratshirai. The idea is that you think about and express gratitude for at least one thing each day from Lammas (8/1) to Mabon (9/21). Even though the Wiccan Wheel of the Year has been growing less and less influential to my path, I'm hanging on to this practice, because I just think it's a good idea. I do little enough that actually qualifies as any kind of community worship lately, which might be part of the reason I want to keep up with this, even if it's "virtual" community.

First I get to play catch-up, then.

For August 1: That's easy - I spent much of the morning being grateful that I was not with the majority of my classmates taking a chem final! Heh. And was also grateful the hospital did have need of me so that I could start earning some extra money.

For August 2: I was grateful that we outran the very severe-looking thunderstorm that looked like it was bearing down on us as I drove my clients home from grocery shopping. Turns out it apparently swerved off elsewhere, because the second group, who were about a half hour behind us, never saw the storm at all. It had looked so bad when we were loading up the van, I seriously considered gathering everybody back into the store to wait it out, then decided to make a run for it, since it was going North-South and so were we.

For August 3: I was very grateful to the coworker from the Transportation Program who came out to meet me when the van wouldn't start for me, and let me wait in her nice air-conditioned van while we waited for yet another coworker, this one from my program, to arrive with jumper cables. (As of this morning, we still don't know what's wrong with the bloody thing. Jumping it works, but yet it's not the battery or alternator. Buh?)

For today, August 4: I am grateful for a morning to myself in which to play catchup online, with laundry, and so forth. Much as I need to earn more money, a 50hr work week, which is what this one shall work out to, is quite enough, thanks. Being able to take care of other life stuff is also important, as is just plain relaxing, and I'm grateful for the chance to do it.
