Walking on the Sun

"If'n I recollect, Moony, I said I'd been too hasty in evalutin' our situation." Jayne's body language was calm but his voice was disturbed.

"You reconsidered our situation because I showed you a little epidermis." River lost what remained of her bio control and her face flushed bright red.

"More than a li’l in that getup you was wearin'." Jayne flashed a purely predatory grin.

River let her suddenly heavy head drop to his chest. Wisps of dark had escaped her tidy ponytail and were curling around her face. Jayne could smell her honeysuckle shampoo. She released her grip on his wrists and slowly slid her hands up his forearms, over his biceps, and down to his chest. She could feel his heart pounding. Jayne's hands wrapped around her waist. River knew what was going to happen next, and she didn't resist. Jayne picked her up easily and spun her about so she was against the wall and he was staring down at her.

"Whaddaya want from me? Whatever Mal has goin' with 'Nara? What Doc has with Kaylee?"

"Not at all. Want what we would have, Jayne-man."

"What 'xactly might that be?"

"The intercourse alone would be spectacular."

"I reckon we could give it a try."

"A wise man once said: "Do or do not. There is no try."

"Yeah? 'Nother wise man said ya play with fire, yer gonna get burned ni zi."

"So burn me." River felt more than his eyebrows raise at her words.

Jayne hands clenched involuntarily on her hips. His life, di yu, all their of lives, had been so ruttin' complicated since Miranda. This weren't gonna make things any easier.

"All right, Girl. Let's do this." He picked her up, meaning to put her over his shoulder, but her arms snaked around his neck and her long dancers’ legs locked tightly around his waist. He could feel her heat everywhere their bodies touched. Oh, Merciful Buddha. Save me 'a room in th' Special Hell.

Ma always said in for a penny, in for a pound was his last coherent thought as he lowered his mouth to hers and their lips and tongues met for the first time.
