You don’t know how you got there. Only that you’re there. Again. Standing outside the door of the infirmary, watching Simon organize pill bottles for the umpteenth time.
Never thought the meds needed that much arranging.
“We’re setting down on Persephone tomorrow. Need anything?”
He blinks. “Pre-natal vitamins for Zoe. More bandages. Sedatives. We’re low on pretty much everything. Do you mind if I make a list?”
“Knock yourself out,” you say, stepping further into the room, watching Simon make notes.
He freezes, sensing your continued presence. “Need something, Mal?”
Yes, you think, but you answer “No” with a smile.
