Friday night I stayed in, read some Steinbeck and watched a late night movie with Steve.
Saturday we woke up very early and headed down to Providence. My family was holding the yard sale of all my Memere & Pepere's stuff. We found out that Cassie's calling in life is a flea-marketer. She's a selling machine. Although that might be because the rest of my family didn't seem to be paying much attention to the browsers.
We stayed for a little while and then headed down to the Newport Chowder fest. Cassie, Steve & I went last year. This time Matt joined us. When we got there it was super crowded but it ended up not being that bad. We just got into a rhythm of inching forward, grabbing 4 cups of chowder and passing them back and enjoying them on the way to the next booth. There were some really bad chowders....scarily bad.
You might remember last year's Chowder Fest expedition where Cassie spewed a sip of chowder, clawed at her mouth while screaming "It tastes like pollution!! Baby seal covered in oil!!"
We found it. And we will forever remember that it's from the Muse Tavern in Wakefield and not order their chowder when we go there. Mother of God it was awful. There was also a chowder, from where I don't recall, that was "Smoked Corn and Seafood". This one tasted like you stuck your head in the remnants of a bonfire and sloshed your tongue around in the ashes for a while. Gross.
Got back to Providence, relaxed for a little while, grabbed some dinner, cleaned up and met Steve's friend Coyne at the Abbey for some drinks.
Sunday we got back to Worcester and it was so f'n hot it was not amusing. Steve & I ran some errands, I grabbed much needed shorts from Dick's (sale on Adidas shorts..wicked comfy) and then we spent way too much time at Greendale Mall. Got home, Steve was supposed to go golfing with Trey but apparently Trey was out all Friday night and his dad woke him up on the kitchen floor on Saturday morning, so he was in no shape to go...so he went fishing with Brause instead. I went grocery shopping, lounged in the sun room etc Good stuff.
