So this weekend was a good time. Very relaxing.
Saturday, Steve & I went to a beer tasting at
Julio's Liquors in Westboro (right down the street). I got a little drunker then I imagined I would…surprising seeing as I’m not a huge fan of different types of beer…I’m pretty much a Bud Lite girl and that’s about all I can take…they had a bunch of girl beverages though…no one was left out!
Then we got home, watched a
bad movie and Steve took a nap. Then
abyss327 came up to visit because she was bored in RI. To give Steve some time to sleep, we went to Old Navy. (Actually, truth be told, I wanted to go to Old Navy and
abyss327 got dragged along..
Got back, woke up Steven and dragged him to
J.J. O’Rourkes. Cassie, Steve and I played the trivia game, losing mercilessly to MIK..a man who must sit in the bar 24 hours a day and play these games. A very drunk man randomly selected us for his poll of the bar, “Who was the 16th President?” and then him and his friend stopped by to chat with us intermittently. I got goaded into having a cigarette with the drunk man who talked at great length about his friends knowledge of geography.
Halfway through the night a man came up to us and asked if we were interested in singing karaoke (“Um. No.”). Anything I could’ve warbled out would have been about 90 times better then the girl who took the stage and decided to shriek out Celine Dion’s “My Heart will Go On” aka The Titanic Song. It was worse then a thousand cats being tortured at once. It was the worst noise I have ever heard in my life. My uber-serious, semi-goth little sister laughed harder then I have ever seen her laugh before in my life. In 19 years of knowing this girl, I have never seen her completely lose composure like this..it was hysterical…and all she had to drink was water.
Sunday I went home to do laundry…*cough*…I mean, go to the
Greek Festival in Pawtucket..which was not as exciting as I thought it was going to be..we got to see my aunt and some of her family and have her explain the food selections to us, but overall, not that fantastic…
And if anyone remembers the scene from
My Big Fat Greek Wedding where she tries to explain to her aunt that her fiancee is a vegetarian and the aunt replies "Ok, we’ll have lamb"..that was what lunch was like..My mom, a vegetarian asked at least 3 people what was in the mousakka and was told "eggplant, no meat" at least 3 times. She got the freakin’ mousakka and there’s a thick layer of ground beef. Apparently beef does not count. (And I’m not even going to get into the lying old women and the iced cappucino/mocha mess. Goddamn.)
Also played a rousing game of Trivial Pursuit with the family. I did better then I have in previous games with Steve & his friends. This excerpt was stolen from my sister. My dad ulitmately won the game, but this was inexcusable:
Question: What was the last Asian country to stop making steam powered locomotives?
Dad's Answer: England
firefly062: No Dad, what ASIAN country
Dad: oh, France
There was also a problem with the USSR/Russia….what a mess.
Got my first e-mail for the Fitzgerald/Hemingway class at Framingham State. My very first grad class. Woohoo..I’m psyched to be taking classes, even if it’s only part time…I need something to occupy some time and use the brain…I’m losing any knowledge I gained sitting at this desk. It’s scary…
Ok, more later..leave one.
Gemini Horoscope for 8/23 - 8/29
This week your creative and intellectual approaches are concrete and deep.
Your mind is clever, sharp and penetrating and you enjoy investigating and solving puzzles at this time.
You may be drawn into an alliance with a person who is intense, magnetic and seductive, but this relationship will probably remain platonic, unless other transits during this period indicate otherwise.
Either way, the power you sense coming forth from this individual may be too great for you to handle, so it is best to keep this partnership focused on business or creative pursuits.
On another level, if you have been experiencing difficulty in releasing an attachment or obsession, this period can denote the time when you finally let go and make way for new beginnings.
