I gotta tell ya, I'm pretty f'ing impressed with myself!!

On Thursday, our weekend schedule was pretty much sleep, watch some Tivo'd shows, nap...we had NO plans at all.

So Friday at work I decide to do pork and apple chutney for dinner. So I stop at Stop & Shop on the way home, grab some pork, some fresh spinach to saute and a couple of sweet potatoes. While I'm there, Stacey texts me and asks what I'm up to and I say "not much, making dinner and watching the Sox game." She says she's bored but doesn't want to intrude on our plans. I respond that they are BARELY plans, and to feel free to come over. I don't hear back so I check out at Stop & Shop and head home. On the way, she texts back to ask what time she should be there. So I have to stop at Shaws for more pork and another sweet potato.

With Jon helping only in cleaning the spinach, peeling apples etc..I made baked sweet potatoes, sauteed butter and garlic spinach and pork with a homemade apple chutney AND a 9x13 pan of apple crisp. I was pretty impressed. And it was all done at the same time and hot, not burned and tasty.

I'm moving up in the world kids.

Saturday, we woke up, made an apple pie with bacon at 10 in the morning. Yes. We're weird people.

Packed it all up and headed down to Providence. Went to the RISD art show and then to the Scituate Art Festival. Which was a very good time.

Stopped by to see my parents, stopped for beer and cheddar cheese and then went to Anne Marie & Topher's to meet up with them, Josh & Sara, Cassie and others for dinner and the Sox game. Topher had made a very lovely roast with broccoli and butternut squash. Which I am kind of on the fence about but he mashed it with brown sugar and maple syrup and it was incredible. Jon & I are going to try to replicate it this week.

Sunday, I got up and Jon had already been grocery shopping, put everything away, made me coffee and was making maple thick cut bacon from Whole Foods. Good stuff.

Then we went for a 2 hour hike in Blue Hills. I had no idea there was this huge reservation so close to us! It was crazy. We hike for a couple of hours and then headed home. We were going to nap, but we were all motivated so he vacuumed his car, got the grill gas tank filled and mowed and weeded the lawn while I scrubbed the upstairs tub, vacuumed and cleaned the bathroom floor and the entire bedroom floor as well as dusted all the baseboards which were pretty grody.

Then Cassie came over, we roasted a chicken with potatoes and carrots, watched the Patriots game while playing Risk..a game that may be the slowest moving process of all time, and went to bed.

Today, with the day off, I have no idea...Cassie is still sleeping, so I think I'm going to take a shower and start on the 1st floor. I want to do the floors and baseboards as well as clean the inside of the stove and wipe down the cabinets. And use the stainless steel cleaner on the appliances. They need some loving.

What is up with the crazy domesticity? It's craziness. It was awesome that Jon was up for the art stuff in Providence though. The RISD one was his idea and then I realized the Scituate one was going on...and my family used to go that every year. It was nice to spend the weekend hanging out and relaxing and making yummy food together.

Last physical therapy session this week!! I think I'm cured!! Woohoo!

food & drink, jonathan, weekend
