Woahhh sticker shock!

We spent over an hour with the blinds and shades lady this morning. It was kind of crazy. We had decided that we wanted someone to come in and install the blinds and shades we wanted..this isn't something we have a lot of background in and since brand new windows aren't really the place to start learning out to be handy, we decided just to have someone come in and do it. We picked out Budget Blinds (which I think might be something of a misnomer..)

We picked out:
~ a light champagne-colored fabric blind in the living room window. This one was the most expensive..crazy expensive. We were going to do these blinds in the master bedroom too, but we'd be broke. Jon ok'd the one in the living room :o)

~ the kitchen has a sliding glass door and a window above the sink, we picked out a vertical blind for the door and a matching horizontal blind for the window in a cute pattern with small green & white flecks

~ the office has a reddish blind..which will look pretty against the sunny yellow walls we're painting in there

~ guest bedroom & master bedroom have light colored Roman shades

~ white mini-blinds in all three bathrooms.

It came to...kind of a lot of money. I had wicked sticker shock, but Jonathan said that we picked out things that we loved for each room so for our first house, we're not cheaping out on stuff like this..The blinds will be up for years so it's an investment.

It's funny that HE'S paying for this stuff and he has to talk ME into spending his money. When she gave us the total I looked at him and asked if he was sure, that we could really do some of them ourselves...I'll definitely be contributing as much as I possibly can (like the bulk of my next bonus check) and I'll be buying the curtains for the living room, master bedroom & bathrooms, but for the most part, it's his show so far as cash is concerned.

He said the other day over dinner that if he's the financial backer, I'm the creative director :o) Scary, huh? He really did let me take the reins so far as picking out everything. I couldn't tell if I was being pushy but as we were looking at Roman shades fabrics he was like "I'm just not ever going to be like 'OH MY GOD, I LOVE THAT' so as long as you're happy with it, that's good enough for me"

Sidebar: The woman started trying to explain to him what a Roman shade was before she pulled out her sample and he was just like "as long as she knows, we're all good." Towards the end his eyes were starting to glaze over :op

So, furniture was purchased this weekend, paint will be bought this week, the Blinds lady has been hired and we are all systems go!!
