Ah, well .. judging from what I saw of my friend, people were acting very abnormally. It was ... actually rather heartbreaking. I can't speak for any of the others.

It was after the party that the missing were discovered to be missing, if I have my facts correct. And then when they were found ...

... when I found my friend, he was hurting. Badly. Not physically, but emotionally. He was dressed in different clothing than he had before, and ...

He kept trying to take my boyfriend and I both somewhere. When we told him that safety was in the other direction, he started to assume that we resented him. It was a little scary ... I admit to not knowing him very well, but in all the time I have known him, he's never acted like that.

It ... yeah. I don't know what was really going on, but he definitely wasn't himself.

But he's okay now? And there wasn't a book nearby when you found him?

[He's starting to wonder if the being in Klug's book had managed to follow him here.]

Yes, he's acting normally now. And ...

[ a book? well, there have certainly been stranger things in Kohaku's lifetime .... ]

No, I didn't see one. But it was so foggy at the time that I could have very well missed it if it were there.

I see... Oh well. [Meh, that's close enough to fit the old 'no news is good news' saying for him.]

I'm glad your friend's okay.

So am I. It really was kind of scary, seeing him like that ...

[ she pauses for a moment, then speaks again. ]

I'm Kohaku. It's nice to meet you!

So, um ...

[ okay, her curiosity got the best of her. ]

What's this about a book?

What about it?

[...Uh. Yeah, you're going to have to be a little more specific, Kohaku.]

What's so special about it? The way you mentioned it, it sounded like it was something pretty important.
