Lost text messages, voice messages, and friends...

So a recent post from a friend of mine had me thinking...and more a little sad for her actually because I know exactly what she is going through. And I will apologize now for my rant because it will probably be long winded but its something I have been wanting to write about for a really long time.

High school friends, we say we will always be there for each other, we say we will stay in touch, we say we will never forget each other, but then life gets in the way. I am by no means innocent when it comes to failing to stay in touch. I have been just as busy as many of us who have ventured out into the world and for most of us done well, which I am so proud of our class by the way! We have moved on with our lives, and its as though we have forgotten where we came from and who made us who we are today. Yes yes our parents had a hand in that, but you are who your friends are, or in this case who your friends were. Now I'm not saying we are the same people we were in high school, actually I hope many of us have grown up into "adults" or at least try and pretend we are adults, ha ha. But what I am saying is our friends in high school got us through some of our roughest times, and prepared us for the college world. High school was a big part of our lives and it seems a shame that many of us have lost touch.

This is especially true when technology such as facebook, myspace, livejournal, AIM, email, and text messaging exist. More importantly though is picking up a phone, calling your friends. The best line of communication we have is our trusty cell phone which be honest we never leave home, or school, or work, or really the bathroom without. Now with all of this communications STUFF, how is it possible that all of us have gone silent. I would hate to be that cliche where we all don't get together again until our high school reunion, which even then some of us, or lets face it a majority of us wont even go. As we grow, we need to learn to grow together. We are all experiencing the world, and who better to share it with then friends who had been there before it all. Some of us are moving on to fancy jobs, others are traveling the world, and some of us are even married!! It's crazy how much four years can change our lives, but it has, I more than understand, I am moving to Buffalo and starting my real job in August. But what good is all of this success for our future when we can't share it with the past that helped us get where we are.

Okay, well that is all for my rant, but come on people we all need to stay in touch!! This is such a crucial time in our lives, and we should all share it together, so all of us pick of a phone, send some text messages, or leave a message on the trusty facebook wall.

Kim :)
