post-post-postcard show

Last night was the opening of the Post-Postcard Show at The Lab in SF.

I had 85 postcards in the show.

I was excited for the show to, not only see my work and how it was selling, but to see the crowd and all the other works.

It opened to the public at 6pm. From 6-6:45 it was so crowded around the postcards that it made it very difficult to get a good look at all of them.
I was able to see some impressive works that I would have bought had the price been lower. I only saw 1 postcard that I had to have for the price it was (it was by Brian Hutflies).

Mel, Lizzi, and I went to dinner at Cha Ya at 7. The SF Cha Ya is so superior to the Berkeley location, I never want to return to the Berkeley one... Not that the food was any different and it is cash only, but the size is about 10x larger than the cramped closet of Cha Ya Berkeley.

At our return to The Lab a little after 8, the place was even more packed! By this time it seemed like a big congregating party, so it was a little easier to see the postcards. Again, I found some nice work but was unwilling to fork out $30 for it.
It was extremely clear that all of the best work is gone within the 1st hour of the sale's opening.

At the end of the 3 hour opening, I had sold approximately 50 postcards. I am very happy about that.
Aside from the little bit of sadness from "losing" the bulk of my year's art without any record of the images, I also feel a bit bummed that anyone who goes to the show for the remainder of the time will not get to see my best work that already sold.
(I also should have put my fuckin name on the postcards!)

I want to thank all of my friends that went to the opening and anyone that ends up going this weekend.
