A picture of the cast from my favorite show. And so-
Bones!
It really is a fantastic show and if I tried explaining it in one entry, I'd probably spend an entire hour on it and it would be far, far too long. For now, know that the characters are brilliant, from their dialogue down to the tiny little quirks in their movement and it really is, to me at least, quite a different spin on a kind of improved "CSI" genre.
It's in its sixth season and I'm still watching it. That doesn't happen very often. WATCH IT, OMG.
On another note, I have been completely obsessed with my new book, Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld. Here's the summary: "In an alternate 1914 Europe, fifteen-year-old Austrian Prince Alek, on the run from the Clanker Powers who are attempting to take over the globe using mechanical machinery, forms an uneasy alliance with Deryn who, disguised as a boy to join the British Air Service, is learning to fly genetically-engineered beasts."
It's like a steampunk version of World War 1. It's fantastic and brilliant and I absolutely adore it, so I thought I'd share a tiny paragraph I read today that I found particularly well-phrased and even poetic.
"As Alek glared at the newspaper man one last time, an unsettling realization overtook him. He spoke French, English, and Hungarian fluently, and always impressed his tutors in Latin and Greek. But Prince Aleksandar of Hohenburg could barely manage the daily language of his own people well enough to buy a newspaper."
It's rather simple wording, yes, but I love the unnerving understanding there is in the comparison of royalty and the common people there. It's such a personal realization about the world and in a single paragraph, it really becomes apparent. That's literature to me- when one can take the greatest theory and psychology from a phrase stated so simply.
