Car Accident (Not Mine)
While I was driving home tonight, I got caught in a really huge traffic jam. Those are common around here as Dallas is such a big city and so full of commuters, especially at this time of night.
I've seen lots of accidents- from cars getting their bumpers smashed in to someone running into the wall separating oncoming traffic to popped tires. I used to get really upset about them and it took me a long time in my own driving experience to get used to seeing them. Mostly now, I'm able to pass them without freaking out and just carry on and hope they're okay. They may be strangers to me, but they're still people.
But tonight the accident was an upside down Honda Odyssey. It looked like a family van. The entire windshield had smashed and there was a fire engine, three police cars, and an ambulance. There was no ice; that's been gone for days. It was just... upside down like it had flipped off a bridge or something. I can't even imagine how it could have happened. It wasn't even slightly upside down- it was balancing on its roof like it could spin like a top at any moment.
It's really freaking me out. I've even seen an upside down car accident before, but that one didn't unnerve me as much as this one. My stomach is really hurting and I can't concentrate on anything. I know the feeling will eventually subside, but honestly, I've been on the verge of tears for about twenty minutes now.
It's just odd that after being alright with accidents for so long, even with such a bad one, that I'm so upset. I don't even know the people in the accident and I'm still getting the shakes.
