These pictures all come from either the episode stills or are screen caps taken from the Making Of documentary on the DVD. All feature Kristin Kreuk and nearly half of them involve blood being painted on her face.
First the scene in the Fortress when Clark proposes to Lana
There are several BtS pics from different episodes that show the crew wearing masks while filming on the Fortress set
I have two questions about the masks. Are they to protect the crew from inhaling harmful substances that are on the set or are they to protect the set from the crew’s noxious and damaging breath? Also, why don’t the actors wear the masks when they aren’t filming? Is this because they aren’t really human and harmful substances don’t harm them? Or is it because they have such sweet and pleasant breath that it would do no damage to the delicate FoS set?

And last, the scene on the highway where Lana dies
Acting is such a glamorous profession
It must have been freezing that night. I’m sure lying on the road didn’t help to warm her up. Luckily, she has that blanket.
