I was thinking about it and I was thinking "Hey I'm not so drunk that I can't post in my livejournal." Even if I do have to constantly correct my typ-os.
So I started my new program on Monday. I LOVE it. However I am still not totally at home. So I did end up calling my old supervisor today to tell her about this e-mail that I though was full of shit.
September “Stress Less” Newsletter
The hassles of high-velocity change are hard on job commitment
People get fed up with the situation. Disgusted and demoralized, doubtful about their job security, or just plain tired, they end up basically doing only what it takes to get by. They react to the stress and strain by emotionally disconnecting from their work.
Now it may be that employees are putting in more hours than before. They might argue that they’re working harder than ever. But the “blahs” are a common side effect of times like these. People grit their teeth and keep going, but there’s no fire. No passion. They work with a resigned sense of “have to” instead of any “want to.” Their souls sleep on the job.
It’s understandable how we might slip into this behavior pattern. We need to realize, however, that it can only do further damage to our emotional health.
When our heart goes out of our work, life starts to lose its sparkle. Job pressures weigh heavier. And we’re even more vulnerable to stress than we were before.
So we really can’t afford to quit caring.
High job commitment serves as an excellent antidote to stress. Like some modern wonder drug, commitment makes us emotionally stronger. Happier. Even more secure in our jobs. That’s powerful stuff, and well worth the effort that’s involved.
Number one. FUCK YOU. Don't talk to me about my stress, and then act like you care but still mention about the link between stress and reduced productivity.
Number two. I am fully aware you don't give a shit about me as a person. You act like I can't afford to quit caring, but what you are trying not to say is that you can't afford for me to quit caring.
Number three. Oh thank you for placating me by saying that "slipping into" this behavior is "understandable". Fuck yes it is, and if you really believed this don't you think you would have something more to say than explaining how stress is bad. Hmmmmm...yeah I'm thinking so.
On a positive note, our wonderful friends took us out to dinner tonight. So sweet of them. We love them so much.
