Yes, I'm alive. I apologize for not being around at all, I don't really have an excuse except that I'm tired and I want to reboot from school. :/
I'm always like this during ANY break, if any of you have noticed. I don't really want to talk to people so I haven't signed on AIM for a month. Please don't take it personally. I just tend to be really burnt out from school and I don't want to be social during vacations because I can have some quality time to myself.
Also, I do work about 10 hours a day now, so that makes it hard for me to really chat up with people because I just want to collapse in bed every day. X.x
On top of that, the lady of the family I'm working with is kind of ridiculous. My mom did warn me that she says ridiculous things, but HONESTLY. Today she was talking at the dinner table about how Americans have so much autism but Chinese people don't, because CLEARLY, we're not doing enough to fix it. You can't "FIX" autism! She talks about it like it's ADD and can be fixed by a drug. IT CAN'T. And there's so many reasons WHY it's so hard to dignose/treat/deal with that I was starting to get pissed at her for being so ignorant. Even her husband and her oldest son was on my side and going "...Uh. No. That's not how it is at all."
Also, she asked me the other day what dialect we speak in Sichuan (the part of China I'm from.) I was like "O.o Sichuan dialect. Why?" And she gaped at me and was like "O_O You mean, you don't speak Mandarin? Even in the capital?" Why SHOULD we?! It's our dialect, we're not going to switch to Mandarin unless we realize there are foreigners or people from other parts of China that don't understand us.
What is that, some sort of Beijing superiority complex? I found it incredibly rude that she said such a thing, but her husband came to my rescue and was like "T_T Drop it. Of course they'll speak their dialect, that's their culture as much as Mandarin is yours."
Wtf.
That being said, in case I don't log on to AIM/LJ/whatever in the next few days (which may happen), HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND MERRY CHRISTMAS! <3
