1.Cosplay
I honestly can't explain why I'm so obsessed with doing it. In normal life, I hate cameras and I hate fussing about what I wear, but I do a TOTAL 180 for cosplay and I angst about every detail until I get it right. I totally understand other (non-cosplaying) people's POV when they give me weird looks and tell me that Halloween only comes once a year. Still, I think it's part of of human nature to want to dress up as someone else and pretend to be someone else, if only for a short time. (I don't think we "outgrow" this urge, either, but soceity tends to supress it as we get older.) Yes, cosplaying is a pain in the ass, stressful, and often quite painful once you have the outfit on, but there's something about doing it that appeals to the little kid in all of us and makes us want to do it over and over again. Or at least it makes me obsessed. XD
2.Art
It's weird, people say I must've learned art from my grandpa but... he does Chinese watercolor paintings, and when he tried to teach me to imitate him when I was little, I SUCKED at it. On the other hand, my speciality is charcoal and pencil, but he doesn't have a clue how to use those. I guess they're just different methods of drawing or something. ^^; I recently found out that my aunt AND my mother used to love art as well, but they never got a chance to study it so they never got better. (I was kind of pissed to learn about this, because Mom was really adament about me NOT going into Art for school and I grew up thinking that she disapproved of my drawings. T___T; )
3.Anime
I really wish people wouldn't snort and roll their eyes at the mention of anime. What have THEY seen? Pokemon? Anime is every bit as angsty and deep as live-action shows on TV. People just need to give it a chance and watch something classic and generally well loved, like Cowboy Bebop or Fullmetal Alchemist or something like that. Anime's sooooo much fun to get into, and there are some characters that are just so unique and so much awesome that I'll still be squealing over them years after their anime has run its course. ^^
4.Trish
Really? xD; I thought I was more of a Lady, but Devil May Cry rocks in general so I won't complain. 8D I know the idea's been used in other games/stories/animes, but I really love that Dante's such a strong character but still goes all wibbly for his family members. If it wasn't for that weakness, I probably would've brushed him off as another bratty character and ignored him. I also love that Dante is always pwned by the female memebers of the DMC cast, namely Lady and Trish. Gotta love a macho guy that's wrapped around a woman's pinky. XD
5.Conventions
I know I talk nonstop about these, but I've only gone to three. xD;;;; I mainly stalk conventions online by watching videos of panels of voice actors that I like or from generally silly videos of cosplayers putting on skits or acting silly in the hallways. Conventions are as addicting as cosplaying, and I would really like to keep going to them even though I have no idea where I'll be next year after I graduate. It's gotten to the point that I'm less inclined to go out of the country for graduate school because I adore the conventions in the States so much. :( I am looking forward to having my own place and my own car in the future though, so I can go to whatever con I want instead of being restricted by school and the immediate area around school.
