I've been driving myself crazy with misc. stuff lately, so I've kind of forgotten this was happening until... well, today. @_@
Turn off your lights/non-necessary appliances at 8:30 pm (your time)!!
"From an Antarctic research base to the Great Pyramids of Egypt and beyond, the world switched off the lights on Saturday for the second international Earth Hour, dimming skyscrapers, city streets and some of the world's most recognizable monuments for 60 minutes to highlight the threat of climate change.
Time zone by time zone, nearly 4,000 cities and towns in 88 countries joined the event sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund to dim nonessential lights from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m."
Famous monuments like the Eiffel Tower, the Parthenon, the Pyramids of Giza, the U.N. headquarters in New York City, and the Bird Stadium is Beijing are all joining in. (Though by the time I'm typing this, most have already gone through with it.)
It always makes me so, so proud to see everyone around the world banding together for one cause. For an event that started in Sydney only two years ago, this is a HUGE phenomenon.
DO IT.
EDIT #1: Slideshow of current Earth Hour pictures
here. (You can see before and during comparisons of famous monuments, cities and places.)
EDIT #2: PASS THIS ON. No one seemed to care last year on my f-list and that makes me want to smack people. T_T;
