Home. For two weeks. Obligation-free. We pulled out onto the highway around 8:20 last night and braved the icy roads and oncoming snow to arrive here at about 4am. My cat seems TINY compared to my roomate's, I can pick her up with one hand and hold her in one arm. There's a tree in the livingroom, clementines in the kitchen, my bed scented like lavender.
But my brother has moved his bedroom into what was always the TV room, the livingroom is not in its traditional layout for when the tree comes, my cat is freaking out because I smell like Maestro, and I can't remember at first where things are in the kitchen. Things change, things evolve.
Two weeks lay before me, full of family and friends, sleep, relaxation! Today I got up to go have Sunday Dinner with my dad. The sauce was provided by one of my dad's patients, but hopefully we'll make some sauce sometime before I go. Then we decorated the tree at my mom's house.
I love coming home and spending my first night watching movies that I don't own, that I haven't seen in ages. I just need to give myself an evening to relax and absorb being home, and recover from the trip. I'll be too busy with Christmas, friends, family for the rest of my break to have any time to myself, so I might as well take advantage of it. Tonight's lineup? Notting Hill, Boondock Saints, Coyote Ugly.
I should retract my above statement of being obligation-free...I am rather overdue in turning in the recording for the Big Band II concert, because there was so much else going on during the exam period and I didn't want to do a sloppy job. This is the first Christmas break in history that I have not brought my flute home with me. I brought my M-Box instead. A fair trade-off, I think.
Tomorrow's agenda? Doctor's appointment, dropping a copy of my portfolio by SoundMirror, lunch with friends, and (hopefully) a reasonable amount of Christmas shopping.
christmas,
