Fema predicts that New Orleans will have (upwards of) 50,000 casualties due to the Hurricane. And the Hurricane center predicts that there are going to be (upwards of) 60,000 casualties in the City of New Orleans by Tuesday night. It's the worst hurricane to hit the gulf coast ever. Camile hit land with winds of 150mph, and Camile was considered the worst storm to ever hit the gulf coast. Katrina has winds of 180 mph, and it's getting stronger. FACT: As of now, Katrina is the 3rd strongest hurricane to ever be recorded. Keep in mind that Katrina is still gaining strength, so it could break the record..and New Orleans.
And (I'm sure everybody knows by now) Katrina is by far the worst hurricane to hit New Orleans EVER. This hurricane is a strong Category 5, not a weak category 3 like Betsy. And keep in mind, Betsy still destroyed half of the city back in the day. I just hope everybody evacuated. Because this storm is going to be desastorous. And what makes this hurricane so deadly to New Orleans in particular is all of the water surrouding us. And the fact that we are 14 feet below sea level isn't going to help either. Again, if you haven't already left, I suggest that you get out now, do so, or find a strong high building (like Kevin at Channel 4).
