"But don't negate the fact that a NT can do a ST job quite easily, but a ST simply isn't wired to be innovative."
Do I see approaching doom in these words? Oh yes. With extra doominess. The thing is, a NT can indeed do a ST's job quite easily. For about four days. After that, they find themselves grinding away at a task that is too complex to automate (besides, they don't have time) yet not complex enough to hook their attention. And since they're capable of doing the task quite easily, that leaves them berating themselves for not being able to perform well in a position for which they are in a sense overqualified, while simultaneously wanting to chew off a leg in order to escape. Result: your NT who can supposedly act as a drop-in replacement for a ST is desperately searching for an out that does not involve career suicide and/or financial disaster, while simultaneously burning all their mental energy on staving off disaster. Don't send an iNtuitive to do a Sensor's job. It ain't kind.
Of course, I speak in an entirely hypothetical manner, based on my extensive study of personality type theory. The above guess may have nothing to do with the real-world experience of any person, and certainly has nothing to do with e.g. why i am sitting where i am at this particular moment.
