I have been in Austin just about a month now. I am learning my way around (although trying to find the grocery store today put me near Mt. Bonnell) and getting used to the city in general. I have been applying to jobs like crazy, and I have a solid lead with a place that is going to get back to me in 3 weeks! 3 weeks? A million things can change in that time. But the executive director is out of town, oh well. I have a bunch of resumes printed up, and now I am walking into places I want to work at with them and leaving them with HR.

I have established a core group of girl friends that make me really happy. I am dipping my toes in the bike scene, even though I blew off critical mass tonight. Tomorrow is the frankenbike flea market, I will have better opportunities to meet and talk to people there.

While I am waiting to get a new job/start school, I am planning on getting a small job for the interim. I am hopefully getting in with Half Price Books, a store that makes me really happy. I need a source of income, I can't sit on my hands waiting for the right job to become available. It could take me another month! Then at least I am getting some bills paid. I am still looking for a communications/PR position with a non-profit, and this summer I want to go back to school so that I can be certified to teach science.

Mike is doing awesome, he met with an entertainment lawyer to talk about selling his songs, and he is getting the paperwork to be incorporated with his songwriting partner/lyricist next week.

The most exciting news is that I won't have to move again! Right now I live in a bachelor pad in a really nice neighborhood. Our plan is to get a break on rent in exchange for fixing the place up and making it more valuable. It requires a lot of patching and painting. And landscaping. The before and after pictures will be priceless! It is a four bedroom with large living/dining space. Huge backyard, medium front yard and driveway. It is so nice to live in a house again. And to have a huge project. If the landlord okays it, we will begin landscaping work right away, and once the other roommates move out, we can do the inside of the house.

We will take over the master bedroom that has a bathroom and outdoor entrance attached to it. The art room will be a cozy living room, and the current living room will be turned into a dining room with a baby grand piano in it (Mike inherited one). The three bedrooms in the other part of the house will be a guest bedroom, an office, and a music room. I am so incredibly excited about this! We went to Ikea to get some ideas, and we are doing our best to find what we want on craigslist or other second hand ways. If I could get a job doing this kind of thing without having to go back to school, I would do it.
