This has been an awesome birthday ... well, birthday weekend really. None of the 'going out with friends and getting drunk off your ass legally' stuff just yet but it was still really nice.
Saturday was graduation ... I knew more graduating seniors than I realized. There were lots of goodbye's and quite a few laughs too, and definitely a lot of memories to remind me of the good old days. A nice lunch with the family and then off to the city to watch Mama mia! . That was a LOT of fun. I grew up listening to ABBA a la my dad and it was really nice to hear their stuff again for the first time in forever. It brought back a lot of happy childhood memories :-D Then we walked around the city a bit and rang in my birthday with a cheesecake at a quaint little bakery near Penn station. I loved it !! I'm not weird ... it was REALLY GOOD cheesecake damnit ! We got back home at like 2:30 in the morning and no sooner had I gotten in bed that my cousin called ... from INDIA !! I wanted to kill her for keeping me up and hug her for calling at the same time. God was it good to talk to her. Since I was awake anyways, another quick call to my grandparents was in order and the night was, finally, over.
I forgot how wonderful sleeping in felt. A late brunch where mum made all my favorite foods :-D and then just chilling with the family, recovering from the late night the day before. Dinner was at a really nice, very French restaurant near here that has AMAZING roast duck and their deserts are to die for. Still no alcohol other than a sip of my dad's Merlot though ... I was the one driving home (isn't that mean of them?). Deserts led to presents. The highlight of the night was the cards my grandparents sent me, almost made me cry, in a happy way. The next is a tie between the goofy cards I got from my brother (who has a wicked sense of humor) and my baby cousin (who's just plain cute and my aunt probably picked out his card). All in all, it was a great night.
Happy Birthday to me! I live in a tree. With the snakes and the birdies and the monkeys like me!
Good night and god bless.
.~:* Time holds the heart's key
Key to everything is Love,
Love makes the heart flower
Flower's into a deep desire,
Passion in the heart's fire
Passion and desire.
The heart will find a home, the ship will find a harbor
A haven for the soul until the storms subside
Fire may burn and the sky may thunder
Heroes crumble and the sun may fall
As the river circles on its endless journey
I will follow you *:~.
EDIT (11:40 pm): I'm not sure if I should take this as a compliment or an insult.
Tom: what did you do all day?
Me: slept in ... was a lump ...
Me: dinner at a really nice french place
Tom: ooooh
Tom: din din!
Me: it was really nice
Tom: would i recognize the name of whatever you ate?
Me: you should .... it was roast duck
Me: in a mango glaze with veggies that actually tasted good
Tom: ahh!
Tom: that sounds like the thing the caveman ordered in the geico commercial
PS: Yes this entry is backdated to the time that I was born, as close to it as we can guess anyways. My dad claims it was about 40 minutes earlier and my mum will swear on her life that this is the right time. I figure my mum ought to know as she was the one who suffered through my entrance into this world.
