Short story...
Mark and I had a little extra time this evening, so we decided to stop in a piano shop (just to have a look around and maybe play a little, seeing as I haven't played in about 6 months).
Needless to say, a salesman approached, and the "dance" ensued. So we played a little and talked a little, and then he tried to drive it home. Now, as I said earler, we just went in to look around at things we couldn't afford. The piano I fell in love with was a 1976 Balwin. It was priced at about $2500 (the company is now out of business, and I LOVE Balwins). So the salesman tried to sell me a $4,000 piano that didn't sound as nice, didn't look as nice, and I didn't like it as much. So we lied a little and said we couldn't afford it and left.
Now to anyone else, this story sounds like a success (a sales pitch dodged). But to me, it sort of sucked. I sat down at that Balwin, and I felt like I was home. It sang along with me, and I played like I was back in front of my "Rose" at me mom's house. So I'm missing my mom and my piano, and now the fact that we're pretty much broke is glaring me in the face.
But there is hope. We got a new apartment in Sugar Land for half price! More room, an extra bedroom, and when Mark gets the job with Pearland, we might be able to afford the piano. I'm counting down the days. :)
