Part 9B “Yunho?” Junsu said weakly. He felt his head pounding a little, but it wasn’t as bad as the day before and he could handle it without much medicine. The said man looked up from the book he was reading as he sat across the room and smiled, seeing Junsu had woken up.
“Hey, Su,” Yunho walked over to the bed and kisses his lover’s forehead.
“Hey. Where’s Jaejoong?”
“Outside, love. How are you feeling?”
“I’m good,” Junsu smiled weakly. Yunho replied the smile but sighed after, taking Junsu’s hand and kissed the back of his palm.
“I’m sorry,” Yunho whispered, “I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you. I’m sorry I only make your life harder.”
“What are you talking about?” Junsu frowned, “It’s not your fault, Yunho.”
“I still feel like all these happened because of me,” he buried his face on Junsu’s lap. Hyukjae’s words kept playing on his head and he couldn’t help thinking if it was true, if it was because of him Junsu got hurt. He was the one who left the two best friends unsupervised while it was his job to protect them, to protect his partner. Now he even drove his lover’s lifetime best friend away. “I shouldn’t have left you, Su, I’m sorry.”
“Yunho,” Junsu whispered, “Don’t blame yourself, it wasn’t your fault,” he caressed the older’s hair.
Yunho said nothing and sighed. Junsu continued playing with the older’s hair, scratching his nape. Yunho sighed in contentment but it didn’t put his mind at ease. He thought about Hyukjae’s threat, how is he supposed to explain to Junsu the reason his best friend didn’t show up to check on him? How would he feel when he know Hyukjae wanted to kill his lover, that Hyukjae’s in love with him? Yunho was more than confused; he was frustrated.
“Hyung, stop it,” Junsu whispered, “Stop feeling guilty.”
“I was so scared,” Yunho looked into Junsu’s eyes, holding his lover’s hands tightly. “I was so scared at the thought of losing you.”
“Yunho...”
“I promise it would never happen again, okay?” he kissed Junsu’s hands, “I’m so sorry, Su, I can never apologize enough.”
Junsu smiled and pulled Yunho into a hug, “Then stay by my side from now on, okay? That way you can protect me all the time.”
Yunho buried his face on Junsu’s neck and nodded, trying to will his tears away. He promised himself he wouldn’t let anyone leave a scratch on Junsu. He would be stronger and he would protect Junsu.
No, not even Hyukjae will take Junsu away from him.

“You came,” Miura smirked.
“Yeah,” Hyukjae scratched the back of his head, still unsure if he made the right decision. He looked at the piercing icy blue eyes in front of him and somehow reminded of Junsu in hospital. He gritted his teeth in anger, reminded of what he would gain by coming to the man. “You promised you’ll make me stronger,” he demanded.
“I don’t break promises,” the ice blonde man grinned, “And I know you’re too smart to pass on the offer.”
Hyukjae shrugged, his eyes wandered around the spacious warehouse, noting the western design that decorates the place. No one, even him wouldn't know this place belongs to a Japanese guy.
"So what now?" He turned to look at him in question.
"First, we have to know which element you have."
"Element?"
"Oh right. I haven't told you about it."
Miura beckoned Hyukjae to sit with him as he called for someone. He spoke with his native tongue, Japanese, but he assumed he was ordering his assistant to bring them tea and some snacks, and when he was done talking he faced him.
"There are four elements: Fire, Earth, Air and Water. Along with it are these special powers which are Metal, Light, Electricity and I am lucky to say that I have the power of Ice.”
Hyukjae nodded, taking every information very seriously. "So my best friends and their boyfriends are..."
"They possess all four elements. Yoochun holds the Fire while Yunho on Water, they had it since they were young and they’re pretty good at it. Jaejoong, on the other hand controls the Air that we’re fortunately breathing in and I say, he is getting better and better every day.”
“So Junsu possess the Earth element.” Hyukjae added right away as Miura nodded.
“So what I am? You said I have a potential seed inside of me, what do you mean by that?”
“If my feelings are correct, then you have the power of Electricity. I’m sure you felt it sometimes, how it flows in your body when you get angry as well when you get excited. It is just like Water, it flows without stopping, day and night, at all times.”
Hyukjae had this expression of open-mouthed astonishment in his face, he couldn’t believe those powers that are usually only could be seen on movies or games are actually true and he have one of those.
“Too much?” Miura asked, his lips quirked in a sideway smile.
Hyukjae shook his head, “No, its fine. So what are we going to do now? How will I gain my power?”
“We’ll do a test,” Miura smirked. He motioned Hyukjae to follow him through a door. “You see, the best way to awaken your power is when you feel the extreme need to protect yourself,” he continued.
“I awakened my power when I almost drowned in a frozen lake back in Japan. I was a kid and as usual we played on the frozen surface of the lake. It cracked and I fell into the water beneath. That was when I awakened my seed, due to my extreme need to stay alive, and I was able to keep myself breathing.” Miura smiled and bloomed an ice rose in the palm of his hand. He handed it to a girl they passed, who Hyukjae recognized her as Eunjung, his junior. “Eunjung’s power to control metal awakened when she survived a car crash with her best friend, Jiyeon, the crash that killed both of their parents but awakened their power. You know Jiyeon too, right? She controls electricity like you.” Hyukjae nodded, remembering her blunt confession to Jaejoong the year before. “It would be nice to have her around to teach you, but Yoochun killed her. ”
Hyukjae gasped, “He what?”
“Just recently,” Eunjung said, her fist tightened into a ball. “He will pay,” she hissed.
“Say,” Miura smirked at Hyukjae, “Let’s awaken your power the same way.” He walked over to the center of the room where a big chair-like thing was covered with cloth. He pulled the cloth, revealing an electric chair. Hyukjae’s eyes widened in fear, but the smile in Miura’s face didn’t falter. “Don’t worry, you won’t die.”
“B-but that’s crazy!” Hyukjae protested but Miura clicked his tongue.
In seconds, Miura’s men had Hyukjae on the chair with Eunjung tightening the straps on his hands and legs. Hyukjae struggled but nothing he did could break his bounds. The men and Eunjung started exiting the room and Miura pushed a button to turn the machine on. “See you in a bit, Hyukkie,” he whispered and exited the room.
Hyukjae could feel the static electricity humming in his ears, he squinted his eyes trying to see pass the bright light but he couldn’t. He struggled with the straps, trying to break free from the tight hold but his attempt was futile. And then as though someone had clicked the slow motion button, an electric current slowly flows into him.
Hyukjae felt a tingling sensation at the tips of his fingers, before it got stronger and stronger, all over his body, that it was painful. The waves fried his nerves, pulling screams from his throat.
“AUUUUUUUGGGHHHHHH! LET ME GO! FUCK!!!!”
There were sparks of electricity eliciting from a large machine and jumping into his body, a bluish white colored spark could be seen.
“Increase the intensity.” Miura ordered without glancing at Eunjung as he listened to Hyukjae’s screams. If he could still scream then he would still survive the shocks.
“But this is already 250 volts, if we increase the current that could kill him!”
“An seed possessor wouldn’t die on his own power. Do it!”
Eunjung bit her bottom lip and increased the intensity, hoping Miura is right.
However, Hyukjae felt something inside him that was pulled to the surface, something he couldn’t recognize. It felt like a bubble of air inside his body, pressing on his heart and made it hard for him to breath. This time, he struggled a lot stronger, shaking the chair. The bubble only got bigger, nearer to the surface, touching his skin. The chair started creating sparks on parts in contact to Hyukjae’s body, the lights begun to flicker inside the room and the machine started to shake.
The bubble exploded, sending shock waves all over Hyukjae’s nerves, and he screamed.
The pain slowly subsided.
Then everything went black.
Hearing an explosion from inside the room, Miura smiled, satisfied, and opened the door. Smoke filled the room, making it hard for them to see, but he could make out a figure standing in the middle of the room.
Throwing a light bulb to the figure, Miura asked, “How are you feeling?”
The light bulb shone in the other man’s hand, making out the smile on Hyukjae’s face, before it flickered and exploded to pieces. “Honestly, never been better.”
Miura smirked, “Welcome to the gang, my friend.”

“Where are you going?”
“I’m going home for a while.”
Jaejoong glanced at the clock hanging above Junsu’s bed, it reads 6AM. Remembering he should be heading home as well, he sat up and straighten his shirt.
“I think I should go home too, I’m sure Sica Noona misses me already.” He chuckled, grabbing for his bag. He kissed Junsu’s forehead and squeezed Yunho’s hand, “I’ll be back.” he whispered to him.
“Be safe guys. Yoochun...” Yunho stared at his brother, silently telling him to be cautious, to be attentive for possible dangers. What happened the other day was enough, he doesn’t want any of them to get hurt.
“I know, don’t worry. Oh by the way, call Changmin hyung he said he needs to talk to you. I’ll be back this lunch.” And with that Yoochun went out of the room with Jaejoong trailing behind him.
Yoochun grasped Jaejoong’s hand as soon as they stepped out of the hospital. Jaejoong tried to pulled it back but Yoochun only did tighten his hold in him. Jaejoong looked down, trying to hide the giddiness he felt inside, although he knew his cheeks is now starting to heat up, betraying him.
They took the bus on the way home. Yoochun reasoned out that, whoever this enemy is, he won’t attack with too many people around which he remembered when Jiyeon and Eunjung attacked them. It was always in a secluded area.
Every once in a while, Yoochun would simple look around him, surveying everything from every movement to memorizing every faces they are with. Yoochun refused to let go of his hand even though they’re just sitting side by side. Not that he’s complaining, he actually like to hold Yoochun’s hand, it’s so soft and so warm but with these ajumma and ajusshi’s staring at them and their entwined hands... It’s getting awkward.
Jaejoong unbind his hands in Yoochun’s warmth, he heard him hissed but ignored him for the rest of the ride.
When the bus stopped at his station, Yoochun didn’t reached out for his hand and just walked out of the bus but at least he waited for him outside, a frown already marring his face. Shaking his head he stretched out his hand, offering Yoochun to take it. Yoochun raised his brow in question.
“Come on, take my hand.” When Yoochun remain still, continuing staring at his hand, he grabbed for it and entwine their hands. Immediately, a smile slipped over his lips when he saw the blush that surfaced Yoochun’s cheeks. They walked in silence, enjoying each other’s company.
“I’m sorry if I...” Jaejoong paused as he sigh, “they’re staring at us and...”
“It’s okay. I shouldn’t have done that.” Jaejoong wanted to complain and say he doesn’t mind holding hands with him forever if that’s what he wants. Mentally shaking his head at his fantasies, he turned around and faced Yoochun.
“Please don’t get me wrong, it’s just that...”
“I’m making you uncomfortable. I get it. Well, you’re never at ease with me to begin with.”
“I didn’t say that! Stop assuming things.”
“It’s true why are you ---”
Jaejoong grabbed Yoochun’s neck and pressed his lips against him. He knew that arguments usually stops with a kiss and it did. He stepped back and reached out for Yoochun’s hand again as he hauled him to walk forward. He felt his cheeks heating up ten times. That was the first time he did the first move but who cares? He likes the man and Yoochun been obvious about his feelings towards him as well. He don’t see anything wrong in kissing his crush.
“You kissed me.”
“Yes, I did. Problem?”
“Nothing. Told you I like kissing you and now I feel like kissing you again.”
“No! We’re in the middle of the street.”
“But it didn’t stopped you from kissing me back there.”
Oh damn, this man.
Jaejoong didn’t realized they’re already standing in front of his house, only when an arm wrapped around his waist hugging him so tightly, he did notice it. Jessica carefully inspected him, running her eyes up and down on his body, checking if he’s truly fine. Yoochun greeted her, declined the invitation of breakfast at Jaejoong’s house and said his goodbye at the siblings but without squeezing Jaejoong’s hand and winking at him. He’s sure that if they’re the only one around, he would kiss him again as his goodbye.
“Now tell me, you’re just friends with him.” Jessica muttered as she pushed him inside the house, calling for Yuri at the same time telling her that their baby brother is now dating his friend, Yoochun. Oh yes, Jessica really did miss him.
Yoochun went back at the bus station with a dark gleam on his face. Maybe it’s a good thing Jaejoong think he was mad at him, it’s better than explaining to him why that action hit something inside him.
He is the kind of guy that likes to show off his love for his loved ones. Jaejoong seemed like he didn’t mind the PDA, but he couldn’t help be reminded of Hyunjoong. Hyunjoong would shook his hand off if he tried to hold them in public and pushed him away for standing too close. Jaejoong was the exact opposite. Hell, he even kissed him just now with everyone looking.
But one thing was the similar between the two, they were in danger, and it was his fault.
He had failed to protect Hyunjoong, and he promised he would not fail to protect Jaejoong. So far? Jaejoong had almost died twice, and it was due to Yoochun’s absence. Could he really protect Jaejoong? Would history only repeat itself?
Yoochun kicked a pebble as he strolled down the empty road to his home. It was still a little dark and empty, but he was not concern of any attacks, he was more concerned of Jaejoong’s safety.
“Chunnie~” a particularly familiar voice called to him, making him froze. Yoochun stopped on his track and looked around, what the fuck did he just hear?
“Chunnie-yah, I’m here,” the voice called again.
Yoochun’s eyes widened as he rushed towards the direction where the voice came. He turned into alleys, following the voice calling his name. He couldn’t ignore it, he just had to make sure. It was the voice he’d known so well, the voice of the person he’d recognize even miles away.
The last alley he ran into, he saw a figure.
Same face, same smile, only older.
“Hey, Chunnie, you found me!” the man smiled. “Remember how you always found me when we used to play hide and seek? You said you could even recognize the sound of my breathing,” he chuckled.
Yoochun gaped.
“H-Hyunjoong?”
