Whoo, a week later!

Yeah, I got real lazy. SO sue me. Here is that fancy shmancy update I said I would do.

ALright, my pics are up. But more happened that day than just a little visit to the birds. Much more. The day started off with ups and downs. I took my motorcycle skills test to get rid of some of the restrictions on my learners license. I passed, even after stalling the bike a few times. That is still my biggest problem, stalling. But then I found out that my learners for the bike will expire on July 18th, and when I renew it I gotta re-do all the tests... Frickin stupid. I tried to book a road test before that, but they are all overbooked already. Grrr, oh well... Now I know I can pass it.
So I have been riding my bike as much as I can, to and from work and whatnot. Yay!

Then, I picked up Fallen and we zipped up to the birdies. In all honesty, I had no iudea he had so much interest in them. But woah... His enthusiasm was even greater than my own it seemed! We paid for the hawk walk, and wandered, looking at the feathery fellows until the first flying demonstration, which we watched with glee. We got to speak with the owner of the place a bit, and then after the demo we got to head off into the woods with Robin (one of the handlers) and a nice hawk that goes by the name 'Anakin.' This hawk was awesome, and entirely friendly. It followed us around through the trees, and as soon as you held up your gloved hand it would swoop in to perch. Of course, this was because of the tidbit that was used as a treat. That was a great experience, and as we were heading back she joked about making us volunteers. Well, it turned out to be more serious than that as we got back to the main area. We got conscripted then and there, pretty much, and spent the next couple hours digging holes and putting up new perches for the eagles. Fallen and I watched the second demonstration of the day, then finished our work and signed the papers to actually volunteer! Every Tuesday now, from about 9:00 till 4:00 or so, we will be up there cleaning cages and washing stuff and fixing things and whatnot, doing what needs to be done.

I really need to thank Fallen for this, as well. WIthout him, I likely would not have had the courage to volunteer. He is such a great friend, and while I know he did this as much for himself because he also loves the birds, it is such a boon to me. I wanna maybe get into this field as a career. I know I wanna work with animals, so this volunteer work will be wonderful on my resume. Fallen, all thanks to you!
