Mmm... Garlic
I bought garlic tablets to try this summer. I'll be working outside a lot and the mosquitoes will certainly be there. We feed the girls at camp a lot of garlic because it's said to help against mosquitoes. I've heard that it does, I've also heard that it "scientifically doesn't help." But, lots of voices can't be wrong. Either way, I'm giving it a spin.
It really can't hurt. Garlic has lots of health benefits. That's where the myth about garlic repelling vampires came from. You know, back in the day when vampires were out sucking blood from the peasants, there was also quite a bit of plague running a muck (coincidence? no?). So, the people who ate a lot of garlic did pretty well. I like garlic :)
By the way, I'm sitting outside and the sky is magnificent. The clouds are blue and white marbled bulbs. Uh oh, I think I just saw some lightning. Yep... thunder. I should probably head indoors. (boo :P)
The cloud covering rolled in when I wasn't looking. Other than now, we've had a beautiful blue-sky day. This was the first day that I really worked for the Girl Scouts. It's Flag Day, so we held an event which taught the girls about the flag -- facts, how to conduct a ceremony, how to fold a flag... I was in charge of making Liberty Bells -- upside-down painted flower pots with a star hanging from the bottom. They turned out pretty cute. They were mostly brownies and a few juniors. Afterward we had a flag retirement ceremony. There was a low turn-out (1 = the media). There was a family there to volunteer. Apparently some veterans came late, when we figured no one would come (we were putting things away). They left before we noticed they were there. But, we did an abbreviated version of the ceremony. I think that the journalist got some nice pictures of our fire, cutting up the flag with the cute toddler girl, and burning the flag.
I don't think that I'll be doing anything tonight. I don't mind too much. I'd like to catch up on a few episodes of The Office. It's weird because either I'm very busy or really really not busy. Of course, those are the extremes. People usually end up ignoring the entire spectrum.
I was going to work out today, but I ate ice cream with Mary and Katie instead. Now no one is around, and there is a thunderstorm right outside, so I feel like curling up getting cozy. Mmm...
