Jana's wedding

Yesterday was Jana's wedding reception, and the first time after leaving Manipal that I've hung out with a whole load of coursemates at one go. It was supposed to start at 8pm, but this is a Malay wedding reception we're talking about. Being realistic, Sanj and I only left her house at 8pm to go to the venue. True enough, the evening only started at 9pm.

Sanj wore a black and gold sari, and I wore a cream kebaya.
Aisyah asked who did my makeup, and I pointed at myself. She gave me a "O_O" look, to which I replied, "Yeah, one of my hidden talents!"
Nisa was tripping over her heels every 5 seconds, it was hilarious!

The dinner itself was a simple affair. Beef rendang, chicken korma and large buttered prawns. But the dessert was tapai with icecream which I absolutely love love love. There was a bit of controversy between Pedro, Sanj and me.

Argument #1: Tapai is traditional. Therefore it must be carried on. (Hard to argue with tradition most of the time)

Argument #2: But it's got alcohol!
Counter-argument to #2: Very little, like 1% probably?
Counter-counter-argument: But it still counts! And anyways it doesn't take much to get a Melayu drunk!

Whatever it is, I stole Pedro's leftovers of it. Nyummy ;)

Pedro was looking dashingly handsome in a brown kurta. Surprisingly, his housemates Jeff and Adam weren't wearing baju melayu, but smart casual shirts and pants.
Also, Sanj never knew what silambam was until that night. It's like the Indian version of silat. Why this topic came up, I'll never understand. Even if I was there when they started talking about it.

The most fascinating event of the night was the slideshow. You know, the one where they put up photos of the bride and groom when they were little. The groom looks the same since birth til now... except when he was thinner as a teenager and everyone in the room went "Ooooooh!"
