The past month has been mind numbing at work. The sheer volume of things that had/has to be completed is actually, genuinely delusional. I have finally come to the conclusion that the upper level management of this company has become, essentially, the Imperial Russian Government under Nicholas, and as tone deaf (to mix my historical metaphors) as Marie Antoinette and the “brioche” debacle (if you believe she said it, which, in fact, she mightn’t have).
Last night, instead of spending my evening building e-mail promotions so that I could have a jump on this morning, I celebrated the end of Fashion Week by surfing around to see what was what. I love to follow fashion, even though my lifestyle cannot support any serious forays, either economically or for practical purposes. But I love fabrics and patterns and draping and accessorizing. It is a guilty, and not so guilty, pleasure. So here are some links, in no particular order, of what I loved:
1. Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. Collection: Oh, for the days when I was young enough to entertain thoughts of this fantastic bunch of clothes. I am now too muttony for serious adoption of these smart and sexy frocks (and to be truthful, I’ve never been much of a “frocky” sort of person anyway), but I’m thinking I might try to steal one or two elements to incorporate into my uniforms. And the shoes. Did I forget to mention the shoes?

These gorgeous Gottex swimsuits-especially as worn by the even more gorgeous Crystal Renn. I want that coral colored one so badly I might consider mortgaging the cats. Or at the very least, switching them to plain-wrap food.

I attribute it falling in love with Jil Sander at a young and impressionable age. Also, it is sort of the higher evolution of my beloved Art Deco style.

http://www.stylelist.com/fashion-week/page/1/#fwLatest Last but certainly not least! Cheap Thrills: So, as I’m surfing around, I come across something that I can really get behind: New nail lacquer colors for fall. I LOVE all of them, but would have to pass on the rich, buttery yellow, more’s the pity, as my complexion is lacking the requisite rosiness for optimum effect. But all the rest? Délicieux!
