Done with radiation!!
Tuesday was my final radiation treatment. Everyone I've talked with about things says it will take about two weeks to see any significant improvement with symptoms. Considering that I've noticed tiny, baby, incremental improvements already, I think it's safe to say things won't get any worse, which was a possibility.
My mouth is very tender pretty much all over, and my tongue still isn't the right size. I've been drinking all my meals because chewing is out of the question. My skin is mostly healed up with the exception of right behind my earlobe, which is still raw. I'm trying my best not to poke at it, and sometimes even succeeding for twenty minutes at a stretch.
I'm really tired of not being able to eat solids. Christmas was really the last time I forced myself to chew a meal. I've only lost ten pounds since this whole thing started. Not too shabby, and I could lose another ten without any problems.
I'm still able to work a full day delivering mail if it isn't too cold, wet and windy. I can generally handle two out of three, but all together it's just more than I can face. My supervisors and co-workers have been completely supportive and flexible. Not a single complaint from anyone, even when they had to deliver an hour of my route in the driving rain and wind last Friday.
