Due to me wanting to miss as little work as possible, my radiation therapy will start on the 19th. I'm having a couple of problematic teeth taken care of in the morning, which will allow me enough time to be healed before my jaw gets bombarded with photons (anyone have a Star Trek costume?). The treatment I am having is IMRT, which can actually be curved around healthy tissue to focus on the target area. It also uses multiple small beams at different angles so the radiation that passes through is more diffuse and less damaging to healthy tissues behind the target area. pretty amazing when you think about it.
