So I've been thinking about this web thing and what it means in terms of a revolution in our sociological history (there are, obviously other fields, but we're not going there right now). There's much talk of a digital revolution but in terms of it's impact on my life, I think about it very little but it really alters the way people relate to each other. Particularly with the current need for everyone to indulge thier vanity and share all the inane petty details of thier lives with the adoring, anonymous masses. Who don't really care about you anyway; it's just the desire to know what it's like to be somebody else, to sift through another's random thoughts and toenail clippings. It's a mild spot of socially acceptable voyeurism (like when you break into your crush's apartment and go through his mail and smell his sheets, only you don't have to go out which makes it better). That being said, I'm all for random people being rubberneckers at the car accident of my life.
Everybody should read this
theory about pattern, chaos, humanity and the Web because it's oh oh oh so full of brilliance.
