Or that’s what David says about my new music tastes anyway. But what does he know? Hes a silly male.
So my uni holidays, although not fought with productivity - have been relatively busy. I mean besides the usual lazing around and watching TV; my spare time has re-ignited my love for Animal Crossing: Wild World and needless to say I've just spent all day playing it.
Our cable decided to stop working about a week ago because dad accidentally knocked the power. it was on 'loading - decoder code error' for about 3 days before dad urged me to call the company for technical assistance. Just like in the Dilbert comic strips, technical assistance is NEVER assistance, its more like 'stating what you already knew and making you pay more money' assistance. So anyway they said that they'd arrange a guy to come fix it in the next week and that the fee for him coming over was 77 dollars. Just rob a bank why don't you? But we agreed anyway because mum was getting a bit twitchy without her usual Chinese TV shows.
That was the Saturday before last and so on Monday a woman called my mobile saying that she'd arranged someone to come next Monday. Great. By this time, mum was already in a state of frustration and no amount of taped drama episodes could bring her back. Yes...it was a scary week for the household.
Aside from all the TV problems I decided to start going back to church again on Sunday and although I was a bit nervous before going because I hadn't gone for eons and trust me...I was sure I had forgotten what to say, it turned out that it was just like riding a bike! I guess 13 years in a catholic school has installed mass responses in my brain forever. Anyway I felt strangely liberated after mass and I guess it also had to do with the fact that I felt the lines of communication between God and I had kind of opened up a little more again. I know it sounds like I'm some crazy freak but I really DID feel a lot lighter after mass.
So aside from my spiritual renewal, I've also done some thinking about classes. I’m not sure what general education classes to take next semester and I understand that it has to be 6 units. The only problem is most gen ed classes are 3 units and the three that I want to take which includes a psych course about how individuals and groups reaspond to pre-programmed situations in society, a history and examination of Chinese cinema dating from the 1930s and a Chinese language writing course were all set for semester one...damn a lot of help that does me.
I was thinking about doing a science and religion course which examines the conflicts between science and various world forms of religion. It sounds extremely interesting, the only problem is that its 3 units and I would have to do another class. I might have to settle for doing the Australian wildlife one where it talks about the evolution and seclusion of Australian animals...far less interesting but less to think about at the end of the day because we've done it about 100000000 times in high school biology.
Also, this week will be fairly busy. I'm going to watch 'Cars' tomorrow mainly because I've been dying to see it ever since the rumour that they were going to make it came out and going to a comedy club on Wednesday which will serve to be interesting. Can't wait for the comedy club but my main aim is to sit near the middle and hope to God that they won't pick on me. Ahh well...what can you do eh?
Oh! almost forgot, the family and I are heading to New Zealand on the 4th of July which will mean that there will be lots of family time. You know, strangely I'm looking forward to it because it means that I will spend less time stressing over not connecting with the family and more time on trying to achieve it. I know, I feel like I've been removed from them for the past few years and hopefully this holiday will do SOMETHING to change it.
AH! ONE ONE more thing. Yiji asked me today if I wanted to see Coldplay with her because she got an extra ticket. The thing was, I was originally going to see them with Petra but I think her sister wanted to go so Petra gave her sister the ticket instead but its good that Yiji asked because I can see HOT CHRIS MARTIN AND HIS GORGEOUS BODY VOICE. Mmm and Youth Group are supporting. JOY OF JOYS!
