Fandoms you've been active in, be it IRL or online, be it in your head or out loud.
well, fandom normally implies tv, movies, or (occasionally) books. but i guess it can branch out to other things, like sports. what have i got? on LJ, i'm a member of a group dedicated to the tv show Northern Exposure. i love that freaking show. not many posts, but every once in a while someone pops up with an icon. i'm in a group for MotoGP enthusiasts as well as an icon group for MotoGP. you could call me a fan of MotoGP in general - i watch every race, i read the news year-round, and i've got tickets to the indianapolis race this september. for that matter, i'm also a football fan, to the point where i participated in fantasy football this season. (my team was the twinkletoe fluffnstuffs.)
for jason castro some reason, i have gotten sucked into american idol this season, and i mean sucked in headfirst. i was an occasional watcher from about season 5 on, and last year i read a few recaps here and there, so i was up on sanjaya's hair even if i didn't watch. then right at the end of last season, i found a blog called
Don't Get Me Started. linda sharp and her "recraps" totally did it for me. so this season, i found her recraps again and started watching to find out what she was talking about. and then i got a stupid crush into it, and now i read all the coverage on cnn, the washington post, and entertainment weekly. i even read the awful, horrible, grammatically incorrect travesty of a blog in the local paper. this whole thing is...inappropriate. but there's a fandom for ya.
i'm a fan of Mythbusters. i have concocted secret fantasies in my head involving kari, tory, and scottie. mmmmmm scottie. (sorry, grant. you're getting left out. but you can have a sexy girl robot.) speaking of scottie, how about a BDSM fantasy involving her and angelina jolie?? therrrrrre ya go. is that the sort of fandom you had in mind? ;)
i think i need to erect a Geeky Guys Linds Likes society. it's in my head and so far it is populated by adam savage and alton brown. it's good company. yay, alton brown. i watch enough Iron Chef America that i actually know who the judges are and whether they're on often, and i know jeffrey steingarten's peevishness and predilection for bacon (he's the simon of the food world yes i just went there) and marc ecko's habit of saying very weird but oddly charming things about the food.
ok, chica, tell me what else you wanna know!
