Congress has now surrendered and given the Moron-in-Chief the 'blank check' he's wanted all along for military war funding. Which makes him right-- all the posing and posturing Congress did earlier was just so much political theater and bullshit. I wanted to see action from Congress, not just EMPTY MEANINGLESS FUCKIN' WORDS about how they were going to set a different direction....
Most of Congress on both sides claim this was done "to support the troops"--
Speaking as someone who has been one of the troops involved-- this isn't supporting the troops-- this is ensuring that the rape of the troops by their own government will continue, and that it will be "business as usual" in the White House and the Pentagon.
I think Andrew Bacevich said it best (heard recently during an interview on NPR, and restated here--- I may not have the quote exactly, but this is the gist of it...) "What kind of democracy do we live in, where the people have spoken loudly and clearly, and yet their voices are not heeded?"
