Not one war...

Sep 24, 2011 18:16

Not one war in all of history, probably not even ONE BATTLE, has ever been won by commissioned officers and their equivalents, without the enlisted men or their equivalents-- the troops in the ranks-- to carry out all those fine orders the officers hand down. Throughout most of history, it has been the enlisted men and their equivalents-- the troops in the ranks-- who have done the fighting, the killing, the bleeding, the dying-- without which all these fine officers would have accomplished nothing at all. Even now, where the Air Force 'has it right'-- they send the officers out to fight while the enlisted personnel stay safe back at base-- not one plane flies, not one mission gets done, without the enlisted men and women doing all the maintenance, refueling, and rearming on those aircraft.
