It feels like it's been ages since I've made a post, though it really hasn't been that long at all.
So much has changed over the last few weeks!
When I look back on my entries over the past couple of months, I realize how erratic my behaviour has been. I suppose this is "normal" for someone who has suffered a traumatic health event (for lack of a better way to describe it).
You see, one of the biggest struggles I've had since moving to Quebec (besides the whole 'no jobs' and that pesky language thing!) has been the endless task of finding a family doctor. I'm the kind of person who seems pretty healthy, most of the time, but my closest friends and family (and my current employer) know about my complicated medical history. Let's just say - I'm the girl who should probably be at the top of the list to get a doctor! lol
I'm only pointing this out because a family doctor would be incredibly helpful for my (ongoing) recovery these days.
I have a hematologist. And, she is wonderful, but she only looks after my blood, then gives me a referral for whatever else ails me.
The other day, I came across an article on twitter (I know, lol) about suffering from a brain injury, and how better nutrition can boost rehabilitation. It's obvious to me (now, anyway) how much my mood has changed since March, 2011.
Better Nutrition Boosts Brain Injury Treatment

Anyway, this article really got me thinking about my health and about how poorly I eat (I love vegetables, but I have a serious addiction to McDonald's as well).
I have several allergies (but thankfully, not to animals) like grass and ragweed. I also have excema. And, although I tested negative for Celiac Disease a few years before moving to Montreal, I thought I should do a little reading on wheat allergies. I have to get a referral for an Allergist to confirm my suspicions, but I've been going gluten-free for about 2 weeks now, and I see a huge improvement!
I seem less frantic and edgy, less paranoid...(I'm still working on that one, lol) and a lot more organized. I also seem to be making less spelling and grammatical errors. As well, my writing has improved dramatically.
I was going to go back and edit my previous entries, but I think I'll leave them as is. A little permanent record of my improvement thus far! ;)
In other news, I saw Oprah last Thursday at the Bell Centre. We were so far away!!! lol But, I spent a fortune for those nosebleed seats and now I can cross "seeing Oprah" off my bucket list. :P
